Don't Call It a Comeback

Well, fair occasional blog-readers, I am safe and sound returned from my exceedingly long trip. I’m still processing a lot of it, and I’m smack in the middle of a weird form of reverse culture-shock (between vacation-life and home-life). I’m sure some of it will filter up here soon, including some thoughts on West End theatre and the few shows I saw.
As I mentioned, rehearsals start next week for Our Country’s Good. I’m reading The Fatal Shore by Robert Hughes as a primer, and it’s a pretty fascinating story. As one who occasionally pines for the days of heady academia, I realize that being a somewhat research-oriented actor shows gives me an opportunity to look into a lot of things I may not otherwise. It gives me some focus – far better than my thought a few months ago to better understand the world through reading the entirety of Wikipedia’s entries on Africa.
I’ve also been somewhat humbled by the success of several of my overseas peers, and that – coupled with my growing discomfort in my day job – is spurring me on to investigate a few more creative areas. So we’ll see how that turns out.
In the meantime, check out my flickr page for some sweet photos of India. More to come, including the Taj Mahal and Leicester Square.

Ok, ok – It turns out I took over 7Gb of pictures over January, so getting them transferred off the work laptop to the work computer has taken some doing. It also means I don’t have them at home yet, so I couldn’t do them at the weekend. I’m working on it!
