inside, out

Patience, Grasshopper

As I mentioned before, this is the time of year that my life gets pretty busy – what with work, an impending birthday, the start of the always-eventful family-oriented holiday season, and storing food for the long winter. Nonetheless, Art soldiers on, in one form or another.

Mssrs. R, W, and I have spent about two weeks haggling about our Vidiocy entry (title: “Patience”), and we had more-or-less settled on an artier-than-usual entry involving a cast of thousands, there came a point this week where the general concensus was that while we all liked the idea, we didn’t love the idea. And loving an idea is important when you have three weeks to write and film and a week to edit. While we all recriminated ourselves for not doing something more “ambitious,” our subsequent riffing brought us to an idea we, at least, have a lot of fun playing with. Which is important if we are to survive this process with our friendship and desire to work with each other, in my opinion. Not that we were at each others throats, but anyone who’s worked on a project they weren’t crazy about, played on a team they didn’t particularly enjoy, or been in a play that was flawed from the start knows – it’s usually not worth it.

So, though it was fun and interesting, we had to break up with our original idea. We hope we’ll see it around, maybe come back to it in the future – y’know, when stuff isn’t so weird. There’s just a lot of stuff going on, y’know?

What are we going to do? I don’t want to spoil the ending, but fans can look forward to benefiting from the depths of our mutual love of sci-fi obscura, and no small amount of green-screening.

Stay tuned!
