Some of the stuff that’s sloshing about:
- I’ve recently have felt this desire to collect together the articles which reflect things-I-now-know-to-be-true about Chicago Theatre. My first two entrants would be the excellent article by Chris Piatt and Novid Parsi on our own Great White Way, and for the light it casts on received myths about selling out in NYC, Steppenwolf-kingmakers, and making it, Chris Jones’ recent article on Marisa Wegrzyn.
- After a recent fanboy post by Bilal (which prompted me to bust out the nerd hat in his comments section), I went out and bought Batman: Year One, which I found to be wholly satisfying. This article in the Onion’s AV section is an apt expression of why I love – and fear for the future of – superhero comics. It also reassured me that I’m probably reading the only 5 writers worth paying attention to.
- As a participant in Chalk, I am not sure whether to be concerned about the spate of noir-inspired shows this fall.
- I am amazed how far painting an apartment goes toward making it feel like home.
