What’s going in my head this week:

  • A really fantastic piece of journalism: last week’s This American Life featured a team-up with NPR’s news division, resulting in the most accessible and comprehensive walkthrough of what the hell happened to the economy over the last few years. Not only is it an awesome, not-dumbed-but-understandable piece on the current state of affairs, it’s also a great peek into the absolutely bewildering dreamscape that is the world of people making money off of other people doing things with money. Highly recommended (Dad, I’m looking at you.)
  • Remember that Seinfeld episode, where George went to great lengths to recreate a situation so that he could use the great comeback line he came up with after the fact? Once again, the internet solves the age-old problems.
  • Adam Thurman is a smart dude.
  • Seth Godin is, too.
  • This reminds me of a conversation I recently had regarding both The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. It’s made me nervous about the seminal theatrical productions I’ve seen, and reminds me once again why theatre is probably the most human of art forms: like the rest of our life experience, it’s always now. If we want to remember it, we recreate it for the present moment. And reiterates why rock band reunion tours are probably the worst thing that could ever happen to a fan.
  • Good God.

Buy me a beer?
